what minimum marks should i score in jee 2020 sep to get admission into core branches in NIT Jamshedpur being a female obc- ncl student under home state quota ?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 30th Aug, 2020

hi,

see cutoff score changes every year and it depends on certain facts like number of participants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix, students category, choice of stream etc. however since jee main april session exam is yet to held it is quite difficult to predict the cutoff score. now every state nits has 85% seats reserve for domicile candidates. based on previous years results you need to score above 97 percentile in jee main for admission to nits. so try to score as high as possible.

can girls take Mechanical at NIT jamshedpur for BTech...can I will face any problem there

Hrisheekesh Singh 26th Aug, 2020

Hi Iisharaj,

Yes, of course, girls can take Mechanical Engineering branch at NIT Jamshedpur, there is clearly no problem in that. NIT Jamshedpur is just as similar to other colleges. I know you are asking this because very less girls take this branch. See, if you have interest into something and have passion about it than nothing can stop you. So, feel comfortable and go for Mechanical without any overthinking, everything would be fine...

Feel free to ask doubts in the Comment Section.

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!

can I get nit jamshedpur mechanical I belong to OBC NCL my home state.is bihar and my percentile is 95 in jee mains

Sharon Rose Student Expert 17th Aug, 2020

Hello,

In 2019 a candidate belonging to OBC-NCl other state category with rank 6850 secured seat in NIT, Jamshedpur in Mechanical Engineering. Your over all rank is expected to be around 43450 and your rank based on category is expected to be in between 11,000-13,000. Considering this you may not get seat in this institute. You need to score minimum 97 percentile to have decent chances. But cut off is subjected to change depending on number of candidates appeared, number of seats available, difficulty of exam etc.

The formula to calculate overall expected rank is (100- your total percentile)*869010/100

869010=total number of candidates appeared in JEE main January session.

Can I get Mechanical at nit jamshedpur my home state is bihar and My percentile in jee is 95 and I belong to obc

Sharon Rose Student Expert 14th Aug, 2020

Hello,

You have not mentioned whether you belong to OBC-CL or OBC-NCL. If you belong to OBC-CL then you are considered as general category candidate. In 2019 a candidate with rank 21256 belonging to general category from other state secured seat in NIT, Jamshedpur in Mechanical Engineering and a candidate belonging to OBC-NCL from other state with rank 6850 secured seat in Mechanical Engineering in NIT, Jamshedpur. Based on your percentile your expected rank will be around 41950 and your category rank will be in between 8800-10,000. You have tough chances of getting seat in NIT, Jamshedpur. But cut off may increase or decrease depending on number of candidates appeared, difficulty of exam, number of seats available etc.

The formula to calculate your overall expected rank is (100-your total percentile)*869010/100

where 869010 is the total number of candidates appeared in JEE Main January session.

Sharon Rose Student Expert 18th Jun, 2020

Hello,

You have not mentioned if you come under OBC-CL or OBC-NCL. If you come under creamy layer then you will be considered as general category candidate. In 2019 the cut off for MME in NIT, Jamshedpur was 11811 for OBC-NCL and for general candidate it is 37242. You need to score 95-98 percentile or 200 or above marks to have decent chances of getting a seat.

In July what is the minimum percentile and marks to get seat in NIT jamshedpur metallurgy branch of OBC category and I am from Telangana?.

Shivang Dubey 12th Jun, 2020

Hey

Previous year cutoff for NIT Jamshedpur in BTech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was:

  • 11,811 (OBC) AIR for Other state student

So for getting the same seat this year you should your General (CRL) rank less than 30,000 for that you must have 97+ percentile and a minimum score 130/300.
