The B. Tech admission is through the JEE (Mains) test, and ranks are based on 60% of the marks scored in the test, and 40% in the class 12/Second PU Board exams.

You need to qualify jee main to get Nits.As you are general category you need sc rank under 10000 to get any of its branch.For CS you need sc rank 2000.For more details go

Yes, you can get into NIT Surathkal, if you have cleared JEE Main. But, for that, you will need a high rank, as cut off for NITK is very high.
