And this year rank will depend upon your percentile score. According the the exam difficulty level percentile varies at same marks or marks vary at same perectile .

As per your concer the rank of nit rourkela id distinguished in two like for home state is different and for other state means you belongs to other state is different so for home state according last year the cutoff  was(3876) and for other state was (1712) ..

If you want to be placed in a good company after an M.Tech  you can choose old NITs specifically NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal or NIT Suratkal.
