Hi,
It's quite difficult to predict whether you will get NIT, Trichy with 185 marks or not. The Rank of JEE depends on percentile. Since there are multiple shifts in JEE , the difficulty level of paper also changes. This results in sometime students getting higher percentile with less marks relatively. Because of this reason, it is quite difficult to predict what rank and college will a student got on the Basis of JEE Main marks.
Thanks!!!
If you have choice between these two Institutes ,then you should go for NIT Trichy. Both are good institutes but NIT Trichy is better than VNIT Nagpur. Since you belong to Nagpur ,you may want to be VNIT Nagpur but if you chose NIT Trichy, there is no harm. You may have to live away from home in hostel, but it is experience one should take and it is worth.
Hey,
Based on your percentile, your overall rank would be around 54628-61410. For the branch cs, the last year cut off was around 1520(home state) and 198(other state) for sc category at NIT Trichy. So the chances of getting into this college is less considering the last year cut offs. You can consider other top colleges too. You can use the JEE Main predictor tool in order to find other best colleges as per your rank.
As we go through the latest cut-off of 2020 then it shows that the closing CRL rank was 42176 for Metallurgical and Materials Engineering branch in NIT Trichy under state quota for General/Open category.
Now to secure such rank you should have your JEE-Main score at least 120+ marks out of 300 and percentile against this should be around 97.8+.
