Hii! I got 77 marks in clat from OBC category . Is there is any chance to get admission in NLU..??

mahimadogra_6929406 Student Expert 11th Jun, 2019
Hey.
This year as the CLAT paper was easier, the cut offs are expected to go high. The level of the paper was similar to 2016's paper and hence a higher cut off is expected. Considering that you score around 70 marks and belong to the OBC category you don't seem to have much chance for admission in any of the NLUs. The cut off for general category may close around 100-110 and there is not much difference in OBC and general'a cut off. It's mot more than 5-10 marks. Hence with a score around 70 you don't seem to have much chances.
There are various private colleges accepting CLAT scores for admission you can try for those instead.
Best of luck

komal ray 11th Jun, 2019

Hey Neeraj!

Since you have got both SC category reservation as well as domicile of Jharkhand, you can very much expect to get into NLU Ranchi, since it has reservation for students who belong to SC category and have Jharkhand domicile. With 70 marks, you have a high possibility of getting admitted into NLU Ranchi.

All the best. Hope it helps.

I have scored 83 only is there any chance of admission in NLU ???

komal ray 11th Jun, 2019

Hey there!

CLAT 2019 paper has been among the easiest in the history of this exam and hence, the cutoffs are very much expected to be on the higher side. Don't be disheartened, but with a score of 83, there is certainly no chance of getting any NLU unless you have a reservation category or domicile.

Either you can opt to appear for CLAT again or else you can join a private university, some of which like Christ University and M S Ramaiah College of law are totally worth the time and money and in fact, better than some of the lower ranked NLUs.

At the end its your call.So decide what is best for you.

All the best. Hope it helps.

I have a score of 108 in clat 2019 and am a gujarat domicile... is there any chance for me to get into any nlu??

Sampriti Gupta Student Expert 11th Jun, 2019

With the score you're mentioning you'll get a rank somewhere between 1000-1800. I'm afraid you have less chances of getting into GNLU even if you have the state domicile of Gujarat, if you fall in general category. But you have some chances of getting into the NLUs like Shimla, Ranchi, Jabalpur and Trichy. Apart from that you can easily get into a good college under IPU except Amity law school.

Good luck

i have a score of 108 in clat 2019 and am a gujarat domicile... do i have a chance of getting into any nlu??

komal ray 11th Jun, 2019

Hey Siddharth!

As you must be aware, the CLAT 2019 paper has been on easier lines and hence the cutoffs are expeted to go high. The General category cutoff would probably be around 110+. You have Gujarat domicile but I construe that it is unlikely to be of any help since GNLU, Gandhinagar will have its cutoff around 130+ and even for domicile students it is unlikely to come down by more than 7-8 marks.

But you can go can make it to some of the lower ranked NLUs like NLU Assam, NLU Shimla, NLU Jabalpur etc. Their cutoffs will more or less hover around 110+ which means you stand a good chance of geting admission in one of these NLUs.

Wishing you all the best.

Hope it helps.

Hello aspirant. I am glad to learn about your interest in law.
First and foremost thing one needs to clear CLAT or LSAT or SLAT in order to get admission in top notch law colleges or universities.
Let me break it down for you. I will list requirements required to meet the criteria for these examination:

1 Pass 10+2. This requires atleast 50-60% invidual subject marks.
This number depends from exam to exam to college.

2. Give the entrance exam

3. Your rank through entrance exam is the deciding factor.
Work your hardest for the entrance exam.
I hope this answer was helpful.
All the very best.

i have got 120 in clat.. is it correct to go for nirma or narsee monji, mumbai after top 10 nlus

komal ray 11th Jun, 2019

Hey Sourav!

Congratulations on a good score! And yes, it is absolutely correct to go for Nirma university or Narsee Monjee, Mumbai if you don't make it to one of the top 10 NLUs. Both of these are extremely reputed colleges for legal education apart from the NLUs and would be totally worth your time and money. If you don't want to get into one of the lower ranked NLUs, it would be correct for you to go for one of these colleges.

All the best. Hope it helps.

I got 55.25 marks in SC category with UP domicile . Can in get any NLU ?

Rishabh_1890 Student Expert 12th Jun, 2019

Seeing this year performance your marks is quite below average and really hard to get seat in 1st round of counselling in  RMLNLU Lucknow through state quota. But on seeing previous year trends and as you belongs from SC quota so there will be some chances of getting seat in last round. So,I'll suggest you to wait till the last rounds of counselling as it may get you a seat in any lower NLU through SC quota.
