I appeared NEET 2020 from west Bengal state & I think my name will come in the state merit list here. But I may get domicile of Assam as well. So in that case how can enroll my name in Assam merit list? Please advice.

Era Madaria 11th Oct, 2020
Hi Student

No, you cannot have more than one domicile certificate at a time. Itcan be made only in one state and obtaining more than one domicile certificate is an offence.

Domicile/Residence Certificate is issued to prove that the person bearing the certificate is a resident of the state or union territory by which the certificate is being issued. This certificate is required as a proof of residence to avail domicile or resident quotas.

So, in your case you can get a domicile certificate for either of the states but not for both.

Swarnabha Das 11th Oct, 2020

Dear aspirant
At first congratulations for your result and best wishes for your future.
Analysing cut off and opening and closing rank trends of previous years I am afraid to inform you that you may not get any seat for MBBS in government medical colleges through All India counselling for 15 % seats despite of OBC category. Chances are very tough for you in the state government colleges also .Based on previous year's cut off some of government private colleges of Bihar you can get through state counselling for 85 % states are

Mata Gujari Memorial Medical College, KishanganjMadhubani Medical College, Madhubani
Katihar Medical College, Katihar
Narayan Medical College and Hospital, Sasaram

complete counseling process with documentation for neet 2020

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 11th Oct, 2020

In India,w e have Government Medical Colleges, Private Medical Colleges and Deemed/Central Universities. And admission to these Institutions is conducted through All India Counselling and State Counselling. Private Medical Colleges do not participate in All India Counselling and the seats are filled through State Counselling alone. And for appearing for State Counselling you need to hold the domicile of that particular State. Or else the only other option is through Management Quota. Under All India Quota, All the 15% of All India Quota Seats except for Jammu and Kashmir, 100% Seats at Deemed and Central Universities, IP Quota seats in ESIC Colleges, Seats at AFMC, AIIMS and JIPMER are filled by DGHS. The 85% State Quota and Private Colleges are filled by the respective State Authorities. And there are 3 Categories in Private Medical Colleges. Category A is the Government Quota Seats. And only candidates of the home State are eligible to apply for these seats. B Category seats are also called Management Quota Seats and they are filled through State Counselling and the remaining seats are filled through direct Admissions by contacting the College directly provided the Candidate has registered for the respective State Counselling and has not been able to secure a seat in the Counselling. Here the fees is usually nothing less than 40 lakhs. The last Category is NRI seats Category and you cannot apply for that.

Now for both All India Counselling and State Counselling, you should register once the NEET merit list has been released. There will be Round 1, Round 2 and Mop up Round for Counselling. You need to register for Counselling. So the steps are:

  1. Appear for NEET and qualify
  2. Wait for the results and the merit list
  3. Register for Counselling by paying refundable and non refundable fees
  4. During Choice Locking, select Colleges that you want a seat in
  5. And once the seat has been alotted join the College if you like or participate in the further Rounds.

Please read our article for complete information: https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-counselling

is there any possibility the neet 2020 result will be released tomorrow?

iammohdshareef 11th Oct, 2020

Though the MHRD did mention that NEET results will be announced without any further delay, there was no official mention of the date that has been released. There have been speculations that NEET 2020 results will be announced on Monday October 12th but we are not sure how true it might be. So please watch out for official information. What is Neet 2020 cut off.......?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 11th Oct, 2020
Hi

NEET 2019 cut off marks for different categories is provided below:-

Category   cutoff percentile   cut off marks

General          50                               701- 134

General PH       45                              133-120

Obc/Sc/st         40                             133- 107

neet cut off is always 50 percentile for general,  45 percentile for General ph and 40 percentile for obc, sc and st categories but yes cut off marks keeps changing every year depending upon factors like number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the examination etc.

So , you should get at least 20-30 marks more in comparison of  neet 2019 in your neet 2020 to clear cut off ,so if you are from general category, you should  get at least around 150 marks to clear the Neet 2020 cut off.

Thank you

I am getting 503 in NEET 2020, Male, General, Normal Candidate. I have domicile in West Bengal & may get domicile of Assam as well. Can I get registered in state councelling of both the states? If yes, then is there any chance to get a seat in a govt college? pl.suggest.

iammohdshareef 11th Oct, 2020

In West Bengal:

  • Burdwan Dental College
  • North Bengal Dental College

Here you cannot get a MBBS seat in Government Medical College but you can get a Govt. Quota seat in a Private Medical College.

In Assam:

  • GMC, Guwahati
  • Silchar Medical College
  • Assam Medical College

Assam has lesser cut offs and so you can get a GMC in Assam. This is all based on 2019 data and cut offs might change. If you have domicile of both West Bengal and Assam you can participate in the State Counselling of both the States.
