I am ST student and I get 36 NTA SCORE in jee mains..... Am I eligible for advance Can I get a seat in nit sikkim

Anurag Khanna 24th Mar, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

See the qualifying cut-off percentiles which needs to be cleared by any candidate to sit in JEE-Advance is released along with the final result of JEE-Main and for JEE-Main 2021 the final result will be released after all four attempts will be completed and the final result will be on the basis of your best score amongst different attempts. However basis on previous year's cut-off trends we can help you with the expected qualifying cut-offs for this year :-

  • Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile
  • GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile
  • PwD - 1-2 Percentile

So you have very low chances to get qualified for JEE-Advance 2021. Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff

If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your CRL rank is expected to be in the range of 654720 - 736000 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that the closing ST rank for NIT Sikkim was 3931 for Mechanical Engineering branch in NIT Sikkim under other state quota for ST category. And your ST rank is expected to be around 5,000 so you have quite less chances to get NIT Sikkim even if you have Home state quota. But yes if you improve your percentile in any further session of JEE-Main like around 50-55 then you might have a shot at NIT Sikkim.

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To have a list of all those colleges which you can get based upon your marks, category, and state you can use JEE-Main College Predictor:-

CAT or IIFT entrance exam conducted by NTA, which one is harder?

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 9th Feb, 2021

Hi Dear,

Both CAT - Common admission test and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Admission Test - IIFT is moderate to tough in its own way. Few students find cat to be tough then IIFT and many students find IIFT a bit tougher than CAT. IIFT is considered relatively tough also because of the time provided for exam. One advantage which IIFT offers is that you can shuffle between the sections. Also, there are few sitter questions which can be found in both the exams.

Hope this helps..  good luck

If I am getting 140 marks on nta abhyas jee main mock test will this marks similar to jee main?? or jee mains is much difficult to score??

Shrishty sahu 9th Feb, 2021
Dear student,
You can expect a similar score in jee mains as these mock tests are designed similarly to jee mains. You can even expect to score a little better if you practice these mock tests regularly, which will increase your speed and efficiency. This mock test has been designed by nta to give students an experience of the real difficulty level of the examination. You can also go through the previous years question papers and sample papers of jee mains. The link for the same is given below:

I am getting 100-120 in the NTA Abhyas tests. Will I be able to get 150-180 in JEE Main 2021 ? Also how is the difficulty level of Abhyas mock exams compared to JEE Mains?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 7th Feb, 2021

Hello,

NTA Abhyas mock tests difficulty level is same that of real exam difficulty level. So you might score in the same range in JEE Main examination that is  less than or equal to 100-120 marks. You may score 150-180 marks if you practice thoroughly and give more number of mock tests. You need to improve your accuracy and speed, to achieve that start solving more and more sums and keep the track of your performance. Try to give minimum 5-7 mock tests in a week. You can also solve past years question papers.

We have JEE Main coaching program. To help you with your preparation you can use it. It has test series, video e-lectures, smart study material, performance analysis and more

Because as per the latest announcement made by our Hon'ble Education minister Mr.Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, the 75% criteria has been removed for upcoming year 2021-22.

> Also from this year according to New Education Policy the JEE-Main examination will be conducted in English, Hindi and other regional languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam.

> In JEE-Main 2021 there will be total 90 question out of which you have to attempt only 75 (25 from each section) and there will be two sections for each subject, Section-A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)(20 compulsory questions) and Section-B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value (10 numerical based questions out of which only 5 are compulsory to be attempted).

> In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.

> All question will be of 4 marks and in MCQs there will be negative marking of (-1) on incorrect attempt.
