well its not a big issue the parents can attend the councelling while you have to once inform the concern authority for it and make sure that the reason is geniune and valid one

You can apply through your ojee(state entrance exam) rank.if your rank would be good then you can get addmision in good engineering college with your own choice of branch.
By chance if your rank is not good or during addmision time you messed up somehow still,you want to take addmision in good private college.you can contact with college management,they will provide you a seat of your’s choice by taking some money.
There are few college who take entrance exam of their own for the selection of students in their college like centurion,kiit,ITER.
