discuss the effect of inert electrolyte on the solubility of sparingly soluble salt. Following data are given for the mean ionic activity coefficient for an acid m. 0.001. 0.005. 0.01. 0.02 0.05 gama 0.928. 0.928. 0.905 0.8750.830 Determine the mean ionic diameter

Ayush 13th Dec, 2020

Hi Candidate,

The solubility of the salt is almost always decreased by the presence of a common ion and the Sparingly soluble materials are those, which have lowered solubility.

Usually materials are treated as sparingly soluble if 1g of material requires 30 to 100ml of solute to dissolve. The ionic diameter is given by the Ionic Activity coefficient × gamma, and taking the mean of the sum.

Due to the device limitations, I can't solve it here, but you can try it out with pen and paper.

Hope that this answer helps you.

By referring your handwritten fromulas, try to solve previous years questions of all the chapters. By doing it regularly, you will master all the formulas automatically.

Then you can go for OP Tondon and all.

What r some best Book for physical chemistry

NAVEEN MEENA Student Expert 15th Nov, 2019

Dear Sidharth, no doubt O.P Tandon is the best physical chemistry book. The book covers the entire Physical Chemistry syllabus including Atomic Structure, Radioactivity and Nuclear Transformation and Stoichiometry. The OP Tandon Physical Chemistry book covers each and every topic related to the JEE preparation.

P.W Atkins is another famous book you can look after. Atkins Physical Chemistry book can help you clear concepts used in solving Physical Chemistry numerical quite well. It includes enhanced explanations and mathematical presentation of the concepts; several solved examples, and self-test. There are exercises at the end of each chapter. There is a checklist of key equations too at the end of every chapter which is quite useful for students during revisions.

All the best

Hope this helps
