Am I eligible for iits admission if I take Maths as an extra subject in place of physical education, taking Medical stream in PSEB

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 14th Jun, 2020

Rishu, we want to answer this question by quoting from the NTA Information Brochure itself. You can check the same at Page no# 13 pf https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/WebInfo/Handler/FileHandler.ashx?i=File&ii=256&iii=Y . It says" Passed qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject". It says Mathematics should be a compulsory subject. If you take up super medical stream in PSEB, you will have Mathematics as an extra subject. And so you are still eligible for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced provided you study Mathematics both in your 11th and 12th. It doesn't say Core subjects but only says as compulsory subjects. And the reason why PSEB has Super Medical Stream is to let Candidates also explore options of other streams.

Im in class 11th ... I have chosen humanities as my stream... but now Im confused what to choose as my optional subject ( Maths, economic, computer science, entrepreneurship, physical education). Kindly let me know which subject should I choose.

Pankhuri Kumari 30th Apr, 2020
Hii Rashi!
The subject you choose completely depends on your interest and choice of subjects. Look, what you find interesting to study or would want to study to gain some knowledge of that subject. You can go for economics, or entrepreneurship, which helps you with your main subject in future. Physical education will help you be fit and has its own subject knowledge. Computers is also a helpful subject. Else, go for what you find yourself interested in.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Hello,

The eligibility criteria for admission in BCA is that a candidates must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with Mathematics as compulsory subject from a recognized board or university. Now, the minimum percentage requirement in the qualifying exam will be different based on the college you are applying for.you don't necessarily need to study Computer Science in 10+2.You are eligible but you need to fulfill other eligibility criteria too.
