If talking overall, no one is superior to other one. Both are equivalent. If somebody has interest particularly towards Physics and not in Mathematics then definitely Physics is best for him than Mathematics and vice versa. Bu if talk about future fields, then a Mathematics has more fields than Physics
No, it is not compulsory to choose subjects of your graduation only. You can choose any subject of your choice in the Mains exam. There are 25 subjects available from which you can choose. In this case you have described I would suggest you should attempt the same paper multiple times, atleast 3 times, and then look at the solutions to all the questions you have not got right.
