what is thought in central universities integrated MA political science and it is useful for UPSC preparation?

pdwords Student Expert 24th Feb, 2021
Hello,

UPSC just requires candidates to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university, pursuing postgraduation can be your choice but it's not mandatory, and moreover in an exam like UPSC what matters more when it comes to qualifying the exam is how well the candidate prepares, in terms of dedication, focus, perseverance, though it's great if you do your graduation from a reputed college but honestly speaking if you see the eligibility criteria and selection of candidates then they come from different walks of life, many may also qualify this exam through distance learning program also, so it's matter of how well prepared you are , and political science is a really good option as there is overlap with general studies and you can have it as optional subject too, which has syllabus equivalent to graduation, hence minimal efforts will be required here.

Integrated ma political science vs ma political science vs ba(Hons.) which is good for a upsc aspirant ?

pdwords Student Expert 24th Feb, 2021
Hello,

Integrated MA Political Science is just Bachelor's Degree plus Master's Degree, the eligibility criteria of UPSC is passed graduation any discipline from a recognized university, and political science is a very good choice, as it overlaps with GS syllabus and you can have it as optional as well, what I will suggest is if you are only focused on UPSC then complete your graduation and appear for UPSC, there is no need to pursue post graduation, however if you are not sure and you do want to have other options in terms of career as in if you're interested in teaching or academics as a career, then you may consider going for integrated master's degree in political science.
