i have scored 96% in best four from humanities and wanted to persue Ba hons in political science in a girls College.can i be able to get gargi?

Sushmita Singh 22nd Sep, 2020

Hi Ankita,

The admission in GARGI takes place on the basis of best of four subject marks. The criteria for calculation of best four marks includes:-

  • One Language paper
  • One subject for which you wish to apply
  • Any two other subject marks.

So if you have calculated similarly and your aggregate comes out to be 96%, then yes there are high chances that you might get admission into it as the cut off for BA hons in Political Science for general category in previous years is approximately 95%.

As per recent UGC guidelines candidates are now allowed to pursue two degree programs simultaneously, only condition is one is to be done through regular mode and another through distance mode, as you're already enrolled in BEd through regular mode hence you can apply for MA political science through distance mode.

I got 96% general category , and want ba programme economics and political science in Ramjas? Can I get?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 21st Sep, 2020

Hello,

In 2019 a candidate belonging to general category with 95.5% marks in best four subjects secured seat in BA programme Economics+Political Science in Ramjas College, Delhi. Considering previous year cut off you have decent chances of getting seat in Ramjas College, Delhi. Cut cut off changes every year and it may increase or decrease depending on number of candidates applied, top score, previous year cut off etc.

I want ba programme economics and political science in Ramjas college. what is the eligibility criteria? I am arts student without maths. what are my chances to get in with 96%?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 21st Sep, 2020

Hello,

The eligibility criteria is as follows

An aggregate of 50% marks or more in two Discipline Subjects and combination of best two other subjects from Lists A and B. As you are seeking admission to BA Economics+Political Science you must have minimum 50% marks or more in these two subjects. And for calculate of best four you need to include the two discipline subjects that is Economics and Political and another two subjects must be from list A and B and one of the subjects must be English or any other language.

You have not mentioned your category, the cut off for admission in Ramjas colleges is as follows

  • General: 95.5
  • EWS: 95
  • OBC: 92.5
  • SC: 90
  • ST: 90
  • PWD: 89
  • KM: 90

Considering this you have decent chances of getting seat irrespective of your category if 96% is the best of four subjects. However, cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on number of candidates applied, top score, number of seats available etc.

I got 89.5 in class 12, will I be able to get admission in du in BA pol.sci honours?

Prachi Pant 31st Oct, 2020

Hi

You've mentioned the score and the course that you want to pursue but not the category to which you belong so it is difficult to predict accurately any college for you. 89.5% is a decent score for getting admission in Delhi University.

Political Science hons is a very popular and most sought after courses of Delhi University so the cut off generally remains high. If you are from the unreserved category, it is difficult for you to get any college as of now since the cut offs are really very high this year and very less seats are vacant in the general category at high cut offs. Even looking at the previous cut off trends, closing cut off in the same category for the course remains around 92-94% depending on the colleges. However, if you are from the reserved category, you may have chances to secure a seat, looking at the closing cut offs as per previous years cut off trends.

I am preparing for upsc and psir is my optional... but ist I want to go for PG So in which subject should I do PG...only political science or can also opt for pism or IRAM I not am able to get it...

Shivi Srivastava 29th Oct, 2020

Hello,

As you have mentioned that you are preparing for UPSC and PSIR, so in case you want to pursue your PG you must take a very light subject, that can either help you in your preparation and does not become a burden.

Also I would like to suggest that you should enrol yourself in a college in which there is no pressure of attendance so you can easily carry forward your preparation.

Now coming to choosing subject domain, you should go with the one that is easy to go through and does not consume much of your time and effort. Also if its a part of your preparation then its far than better.

So choose your subject wisely.

Garvita 18th Sep, 2020
Hello,

You can't do two undergraduate degree at regular mode at the same time, but you can do one undergraduate course at regular mode and another undergraduate course at correspondence or distance mode.
According to UGC guideline one can't pursue two undergraduate course at the time at regular mode, but one can puruse a degree with distance mode and Another degree at regular mode.
