shwetasaini505_9233227 Student Expert 10th Jul, 2019
Hello Ram,

Madras Institute of Technology is a prestigious institute and with your ranks, you have good chances of getting admission here.

The cut-off for this year has not been released yet but we can consider the previous year's cut-off for a rough idea.

Considering the 2018 cut-off, you can get Production Engineering based on your category rank. The cut-off in Production Engineering for general category was 5493 in 2018 and it was lower for reserved categories so you have good chances in that.

Based on your general rank, you might be able to get B.Tech Rubber and Plastic Technology Engineering.

However, you have chances of getting almost every field with your category rank as the cut-offs almost go upto 10000 rank.

To get information on the course-wise cut-off trends in MIT, use the below link-

Hope this helps.

Which one should i choose industrial engineering in ceg or production engineering in mit?

ojaswiyolo Student Expert 7th Jul, 2019

Hello

Industrial engineering is the branch of engineering that concerns the development, improv

ement, implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, knowledge, equipment, energy, material and process. Industrial engineers typically use computer simulation, especially discrete event simulation, for system analysis and evaluation. From delivery/logistics companies to eCommerce sites to manufacturing companies to textile industrial to F.M.C.G companies everyone needs them. Industrial engineers are mainly responsible for the proper and the most efficient interaction of 4Ms: Man, Material, Machine and Method (which every organization needs). In short if you are an industrial engineer, you are like a diamond in the human resource market. There is no dearth of jobs.

The mission of production  department is to develop technically competent, socially committed and disciplined manufacturing engineers with creative ability, innovative thinking and managerial skill to manufacture quality products for the benefit of the mankind.     The top recruiters for production engineers include National Thermal Power Corporation, Indraprastha Gas Limited, Aditya Birla, Cairn India, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries and Sterlite Industries.

Job profiles available for industrial and production engineers are as follows:

Plant Engineers

Manufacturing Engineers

Quality Engineers

Process Engineers and Industrial Managers

Project Management

Manufacturing, Production and Distribution Ergonomics and Human Factors

Root cause analysis and process improvement

Make/Buy Analysis and Cost Estimation. I would have gone for Industrial engineering in ceg but the choice is totally yours. Make calculated moves and whatever you choose both are really good courses.

All the best.

namita_1559278814 Student Expert 14th Jul, 2019

Hello Megha. Assuming that you are talking about GATE, so yes you can apply for that but being from production engineering you have only 1 option that is mtech. So good luck.

Sourav Sarkar Student Expert 25th May, 2019

Hi dear,

Hope you are doing well!

And congrats for getting such a good rank in JEE mains.

Now let's go through your question.

As you know that the word cut off marks in JEE Mains means the minimum marks that a student should get to be eligible for getting admissions in different universities/colleges to pursue education.

The COT cutoff for GENERAL as per as mains  is as follows:

Production Engineering(Sub category - GEN)

is around 72,397.

Production Engineering(Sub category - AF )

is around 1,59,201.

Hope it helps!

Thank You & All the best!

i got 88 percentile in jee mains can i get admission for production engineering at vit pune

Sharmakeshav63652_9487666 Student Expert 3rd Jul, 2019
Hello dear aspirant!
As VIT Pune has not declared its cutoff for different branches till now ( for year 2019),but by analysing 2018 cutoff you can know whether you can expect your admission in production engineering in VIT Pune or not
As you hav not mentioned your category so we are assuming that you are from general category

2018 cutoff VIT Pune

Branch.                    Jee score.           Jee mains rank

Production
Engineering.             130.                        5884

But as your score is 88 percentile that means your score is below 75 in jee mains
But as you can see the 2018 cutoff for production engineering was 130 and required rank was 5884

So you can not expect your admission in vit Pune
Hope I have resolved your query

Hello Ram,

The cutoff for Production engineering in MIT in 2018 was around 2240(opening)-5493(closing) in OC category. If your community is BCM, you may have some chances of getting Production engineering in MIT, in case the cutoffs drop as compared to last year(which was 9473 under BCM community).

Which is better civil or production engineering at mnnit allahabad?

rehan18alam Student Expert 25th Jun, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

Choice of brach depends upon your interest. If you like civil engineering and its aspects like building some infrastructure or if you are more into PWD jobs or you want to become a contractor then CIVIL engineering is good for you. There are, in fact, a lot of government jobs in CIVIL engineering. Chose CIVIL if you want government jobs in the future or if you want to open a construction company.

Production, on the other hand, is a rather new branch and is diversification of mechanical on one specific side. Production has a lot of jobs in private sectors in companies like HERO, ASHOK LEYLAND, etc. If you are interested in such things then go for production. Also, production has a lot of advantage in GATE - PSU jobs as competition is less than MECHANICAL.

So if you want to go to the GATE side or private jobs then go for production.

Hope this helps.

VSSUT burla , production engineering cutoff?

shwetasaini505_9233227 Student Expert 24th Jun, 2019
Hello Aspirant,

Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology is a NAAC 'B' accredited university of government ownership.

The 2019 has not been released by the university yet so it is a little difficult to tell yiu the exact cut-off, however we can give you a rough estimate based in previous years' cut-off trends.

Previous years' cut-offs are also a factor in deciding the cut-off every year and upon analysis, we found that the cut-off for Production Engineering at VSSUT goes upto 2 Lakh rank, i.e., people with ranks above 2 lakh have also gotten admission here. So your aim should be to get a rank below 2 Lakh to ensure your admission.

The other factors that affect the cut-off are-

  • Numver of candidates appearing in exam
  • Difficulty level of exam
  • Performance of students in the exam
  • Numver of seats available

You can get all the details about this college in the below link-

Hope this helps.
