Hello dear student,
Your priority should be the goal you are aiming for .
as your goal is to achieve the placement then there are few tips you should keep in your mind while preparing for the placement exam. You must solve objective reasoning questions for aptitude, you must know about the company and you should prepare yourself for the interview round. it's depends upon company to company what are the rounds they are taking but the rounds like HR and technical round always takes place. So focus on these few things .

Industrial and production engineering (IPE) is an interdisciplinary engineering discipline that includes the study of manufacturing technology, engineering sciences, management science, and optimization of complex processes, systems, or organizations. It is the application of engineering procedures in manufacturing processes and production methods.
The subjects for this course include:
Physics
Chemistry
Mechanics
Materials science
Computer science
Electronics circuits
Engineering design and mathematics
(Curriculum may differ with respect to universities)
The major job fields are: Industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering.
Production engineering involves just the manufacturing process and not the industrial level equipmentation. The subjects are almost same as production and industrial engineering but an additional graphics and designing comes to part.
The job opportunities are basically production engineer, process engineer, industrial manager etc..
To understand which is better is based on your skills and interests. Both are great courses and job opportunities are almost the same. If you are more interested in production and design based activities, choose production engineering. If you are more interested in Industrial manufacturing and business methods other than the production field, choose production industrial engineering.
Hope this was helpful
