See if you appear for GATE examination in your third year and qualify it with good score then you can take admission to NITs/IITs or can go for PSUs as well, only after completing your final year but yes if you qualified it in third year then there is no need to appear for it again in final year. Because admission will be on the basis of the GATE score secured by you in third year and you just have to participate in CCMT or COAP counselling for admission to IITs and NITs respectively and can apply for PSUs.

There are no such criteria regarding 12 that will lead you to not getting a PSU. You should be certain that you have >55% in graduation and a good gate score. If you satisfy these two you will have a good chance to get a job in PSU.

According to previous years cutoff of Public sector unit like NTPC civil stream recruitment in GATE 820 rank for SC candidate is 64.0 6 percentile.

generally mathematical engineering is a branch of applied mathematics, which includes complex analysis, differentiation, real analysis etc, psus like power grid, ntpc, ongc, indian oil hires candidates with gate score. however so far m.sc graduates are eligible to appear in gate exam, but the most of the vacancy comes for engineering graduates as management trainee profile in psu as per previous years data.  there is very less requirement for students of general science in psu. but you must check the job alerts page regularly to get latest updates. mathematics back ground student may apply for m.tech or phd course based on gate score.

see cutoff score changes every year and it depends on certain factors like number of applicants, questions difficulty level, seat matrix, number of vacancy in psus for any particular stream and so on. so it is really difficult to predict the exact results right now. however based on previous years analysis you have less of chances for direct psu calling based on gate score.

you may apply for m.tech course in iits, nits, iiits.

As of now its tough to say because the analysis and also cutoffs change every year due to many factors like total students appearing for exam,difficulty level of paper etc.based on previous year data you have tough chances to fetch seat at iit bombay based on last year cutoffs it was more than 700.also for iit madras ,iit hyderabad the cutoff rose to more than 600 last year.however you can have few chances in NIT kurukshetra,NIT roukela based on last year cutoff.note that as each year cutoff changes so are your chances into colleges.for more information refer to: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-cutoff

For HAL PSUs you need to secure cutoff above 79

For IOCL you need to secure cutoff above 69
