Yes, NEET is mandatory for being a psychiatrist. You may be hearing from some people saying NEET is not important for getting a seat. It's a false news, people get confused in between psychiatrist and psychologist. Here two are different courses where psychologist don't need NEET andfor psychiatry

To become a psychiatrist, the qualifications you need to have and subsequently the courses you need to pursue are:

  1. Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery i.e MBBS
  2. MD in psychiatry or Diploma in psychological medicine (DPM) or DNB Psychiatry
