What is min board exam marks required to write jee mains and get admission to NIT, IIT? I know it says 75% marks but in a tweet, Dr Ramesh pokhriyal said that this eligibility criteria has been waved for the academic year 2021-22

Drishti Yadav 12th Dec, 2021

Dear Aspirant,

following is the current eligibility criteria,

  • general category criteria- 75% in aggregate in class 12th.
  • for SC/ST - minimum 65% aggregate in class 12th.

so, no rise in this percentage has been mentioned  for 2021-22 it is minimum 75% aggregate or should be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th.

Hope this helps....

as education minister ramesh Pokhriyal sir resigned will it affect NEET UG dates?

Navneet Singh 7th Jul, 2021
Hi Malavika,

Your information about resignation of Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal is absolutely correct but India is a vast country which works on systematic manner. Do you think resignation of any minister will affect the career of our youth, the answer is NO. The education ministry comprises of various counterparts and even if there is no Education Minister at this moment, it doesn't mean that all their work will halt ,no ,the decision making & every single work is still going on even when I am writing this answer. And as far as we know, the Education ministry will soon get its Minister in a short while .
So, you really don't need to panic about the NEET examination dates it won't get affected by this, it is a routine transition, stay calm and focus on your preparations.

I hope this helps!!!
Thank you!!!

what is this 75% criteria said by dr.Ramesh Pokhriyal sir? tell me clearly?

Anurag Khanna 7th Jan, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

On January 7th 2021 our Hon'ble Education Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank did announce that the JEE-Advance 2021 will be conducted on July 3rd 2021 by IIT Kharagpur and only those candidates will be allowed to appear for JEE-Advance 2021 who will clear the qualifying cut-off percentiles which will be released by NTA at the time of final result declaration of JEE-Main 2021 along with the final result. See 75% criteria is nothing but the eligibility requirement for admission to IITs means if the candidate unable to secure 75% marks in his/her class 12th then he/she will not be eligible for admission to IITs but now in the wake of COVID-19 this criteria has been relaxed.  So as per the previous year, this year also 75%  relaxation is provided but only for admission to IITs not for NITs/IIITs/CFTIs. Which means the candidate should have passed all the subjects of class 12th for which he/she is appearing and if he/she is unable to secure 75% then also he/she will be eligible for JEE-Advance 2021 and for admission to IITs.

However on the basis of previous year's cut-off trends we can help you with the expected qualifying cut-offs for this year :-

  • Common Rank List (CRL) - 90 - 95 Percentile
  • GEN-EWS - 70 - 75 Percentile
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70 - 75 Percentile
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50 - 55 Percentile
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40 - 45 Percentile
  • PwD - 1-2 Percentile

Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

For complete details about JEE-Advance 2021 eligibility criteria kindly check out the link given below :-

I hope this information helps you.

This year will i need 75% in board to get admission in NITSs if i have good rank in JEE Mains? Or is 75% criteria in board exams not needed for this year for NITs as stated by Dr.Ramesh Pokhriyal??

S. Saha Student Expert 11th Sep, 2020
Along with qualifying Jee Main, there was another criteria for being eligible for Jee Advanced and admission to NITs and oyher centrally funded technical Institutes and that is the candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12. 5% relaxation in marks for Sc, St and pwd candidates. Or the candidates should be within top 20 percentile of their respective Class 12 boards.

But this year it's different. As all the subjects of class 12 of several boards have not conducted and marks have been provided on the basis of internal assessment and previous exam marks, many students have affected by these. So this year, the criteria of at least 75% or top 20 percentile has been withdrawn and those who have qualified Jee Main cutoffs, will be eligible to write Jee Advanced. And those who meet the cutoffs of Various NITs, will get admission irrespective of their 12 th score. Candidates just need to show their intermediate passing certificate. But this criterion has been withdrawn only for this year.

In regards to the recent tweet made by Dr.Ramesh Pokhriyal..where he stated that Only 12 passing certificate is needed for admission to NITs and IITs...Does that mean i can get admission in NIT with my JEE rank even if i failed in maths but passed overall in certificate due to 6th subject..

Sharon Rose Student Expert 23rd Jul, 2020
Hello,
There is no minimum percentage required to get admission in NITs/CFTIs/IITs. But you must pass in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from a recognised board. You can get admission irrespective of you percentage in class 12 provided you must qualify in JEE Main. If you have not passed in Mathematics you are not eligible to get admission. But if you pass in supplementary exam this year you will be eligible. You need to provide passing certificate.
