For the year 2016, 980058 is the closing rank for Mechanical Engineering. This is the only informatio I could find. Hence your current rank is close and might just be inside the closing rank of this year. But I cannot say it with surety as no more information is available.
The minimum rank needed by a general candidate for getting a seat in branch like CSE OR IT is 1 lakh . And for admissions in ME or CE or any other branch , a rank between 2 -4 lakh is enough .
