The rank which you have gained in this particular exam is a decent score. The SRM Universities are growing so fast in terms of there academic, placements and many more are directly creating the demand for this colleges and this leading as competition among students and hence, there is so much increases in marks which you have to get it so that you can secure the admission in any of the SRM Universities. Now talking about the rank you have mentioned i could say that getting seat in some top SRM campus will not be possible because as i said earlier they required very high marks, but surely you can try in some medium range of SRM Universities like Amravati and AP which are some new Campus so competition is quite less hence, you can definitely make a try over there.

SRM Universities have always been a popular and most demanding choices for the students due to there infrastructure and their academic growth as well as their placement records which have evolved them as best private University in India. Now the rank which you have scored is good one but very sorry to say that you won’t able to get seat for Mechanical in Main campus and the main reason is that the Mechanical field is quite old and popular and also the Main campus is recognised as the best campus of SRM hence it would be required very high marks to get admission here, but never the less you can surely try in some medium level SRM campus where you will find little better chance of getting admission.

SRM joint engineering entrance exam is a university level examination at requires a higher rank for tech courses, for CSE a candidate required a rank above 7K for ECE at ltr branch you should hold a rank above 20k.

My suggestion for you is that you have a higher possibility of getting your favoured course as the cutoff differs every year.

The college which you are looking for ie, SRM University, Ramapuram Campus has a remarkable name and provides a great excellence as well as opportunities to the students in different ways which helps in excelling the students studies. The rank which you have gained is quite good in your 2nd phase but surely you require some more marks to get this University because it is not too far if we compare it with the main SRM Campus hence, getting seat here specially for CSE is not at all possible in this particular rank but definitely you should try for some other popular fields in this University hope so you able to get any of the seat.

As you have mentioned that you have got 6k in SRM phase 2 and considering you have not been alloted a seat in first round in cse core in main campus.

As per my knowledge in 6k rank branches like artificial intelligence and cse core may get closed by 5k rank but you are eligible for other specialisations branches and you will definitely get those.

Branches like cyber security, internet of things are there for you. You can take up those branches. It also have good faculty staff and good placements.

The both SRM campus are situated in Chennai only the thing is that SRM Ktr is the Main campus of SRM University and has a huge popularity with the great academic excellence and the best placement records. Now talking about SRM Ramapuram than it is also considered as one of the best SRM University and even this campus is not very far from main campus in terms of academic and Placements hence, getting any of the both colleges for CSE branch will going to give you equal opportunities now the thing is main campus has very high demand which makes difficult to get in it and specially for CSE. So the decision should be made precisely as both are located in Chennai itself.
