I had chosen basic math in class 10th I am currently studying in class 11 from humanities stream using basic math will affect my SSC eligibility criteria criteria and other state services exams and UPSC as well

Nitin Kumar 23rd May, 2024

Choosing basic math in class 10th will likely not affect your eligibility for most SSC exams, other state services exams, and UPSC as long as you meet the specific math requirement for the desired post.

Many SSC exams, like SSC CGL or CHSL, have a minimum educational qualification requirement that specifies a Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Math in 10th standard usually doesn't play a role in these exams.

Eligibility criteria for state services exams vary, but most focus on the educational qualification required for the specific post. Math from 10th might not be a factor.

UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) requires a Bachelor's degree. Math from 10th doesn't affect eligibility.

Question : Directions: After interchanging the given two numbers (not digits) what will be the values of expression (I) and (II) respectively?
6 and 4
l. 10 × 6 – 30 ÷ 4 + 20
II. 8 – 4 × 5 + 6 ÷ 2

Option 1: 12 and –6

Option 2: 20 and 55

Option 3: 55 and –20

Option 4: 10 and –6

Team Careers360 26th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 55 and –20

Solution : Given:
l. 10 × 6 – 30 ÷ 4 + 20
II. 8 – 4 × 5 + 6 ÷ 2

Let's solve each equation after interchanging the numbers according to the instructions.
On interchanging the numbers 6 and 4 in the first equation, we get –
= 10 × 4 – 30 ÷ 6 + 20
= 10 × 4 – 5 + 20
= 40 – 5 + 20
= 55
On interchanging the numbers 6 and 4 in the second equation, we get –
= 8 – 6 × 5 + 4 ÷ 2
= 8 – 6 × 5 + 2
= 8 – 30 + 2
= –20

Therefore, after solving the given equations the required answer is 55 and –20. Hence, the third option is correct.

Question : In $\triangle$PQR, the angle bisector of $\angle$P intersects QR at M. If PQ = PR, then what is the value of $\angle$PMQ?

Option 1: 75°

Option 2: 80°

Option 3: 70°

Option 4: 90°

Team Careers360 26th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 90°

Solution :
In $\triangle$PQR, PQ = PR
⇒ $\angle$Q = $\angle$R = b
PM is the angle bisector of $\angle$P.
$\angle$QPM = $\angle$RPM = a
Apply angle sum property in $\triangle$PQR,
⇒ $\angle$P + $\angle$Q + $\angle$R = 180°
⇒ $\angle$P + b + b = 180°
⇒ $\angle$P = 180° – 2b
$\angle$QPM = $\frac{180° – 2b}{2}$ = 90° – b
In $\triangle$PQM,
Let $\angle$PMQ = $\theta$
⇒ $\angle$QPM + $\angle$Q + $\angle$M = 180°
⇒ 90° – b + b + $\theta$ = 180°
⇒ $\theta$ = 90°
Hence, the correct answer is 90°.

Question : A class is divided into two sections, with 20 students in one section and 30 students in the other. The pass percentages for these sections are 80% and 60%, respectively. What is the pass percentage for the entire class?

Option 1: 60%

Option 2: 68%

Option 3: 70%

Option 4: 78%

Team Careers360 27th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 68%

Solution : The number of students who passed
= 80% of 20 + 60% of 30
= $\frac{80 × 20}{100}$ + $\frac{60 × 30}{100}$
= 16 + 18
= 34
Now, the pass percentage of the entire class
= $\frac{\text{Number of students passed}}{\text{Total students}}$ × 100
= $\frac{34}{(20 + 30)}$ × 100
= 68%
Hence, the correct answer is 68%.
