THAPAR EIC VS JP CSE??? WHICH ONE SHOULD I GO WITH ?

Swaminathan Ramshankar 22nd Aug, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

Jaypee CSE is the better option. The reasons being:

1. Previously, Thapar was a much better college when compared to JIIT, but it has now been blighted by several quotas for Punjabi students, thereby diminishing the quality of students with drastic cutoff reductions. There has been an exponential increase in the number of seats, which have also contributed to modest cutoffs. The JEE Main rank cutoff for JP CSE stood at a respectable 51000 in 2019 while the cutoff for Punjab students in the 2nd round of counselling for the ECE branch stood at 257,000, making the gap in quality conspicuous.

2. Location, too, plays a vital role in your decision. While Patiala is indeed a growing city, it pales in comparison with NCR, especially when considering places like Gurgaon and Noida. NCR has also become the new IT Hub and is hence a hotspot for jobs and other opportunities, particularly for CSE students. Thus, Jaypee CSE is the better option among the two.

I have been alloted CSE with specialisation in IoT at VIT Vellore. Should I opt for it or is ECE at Thapar is better? Can alloted branch be upgraded in VIT Counseling in subsequent rounds of Counselling.

LALIT 13th Aug, 2020

Hey!

VIT Vellore is quite popular for CSE in terms of placements. And Thapar also has good placement opportunities for computer science students. If you have good interest in coding /software /applications then you must opt CSE in any of Thapar or VIT College but if you have interest in electronics then you must opt ECE. But if you are an average student then suggestion is to join cse as ece becomes very difficult for average students later.

Hope it helped to clear your doubt

Thank you

Respected Sir/Mam With due respect, I wish to ask can my branch be upgraded to CSE in subsequent rounds of Counselling of Thapar Institute as my XIIth PCM percentage is 96 while cutoff is 97.667%. Please assist me as soon as possible.

Ankita Grover 12th Aug, 2020

Hi Aditya!

I have personally spoken to the college authority in this matter. They provided me with the following procedure of admission in B.tech 2020:

The college conducts 3 rounds of counselling, or rather rolls out the merit list 3 times.

1 st Merit List came out on August 6, 2020.

2 nd Merit list will be out on August 14, 2020

3 rd Merit List will be out on August 24,2020.

Subsequently, September 1 st onward, online session will commence.

Now, there are chances of upgrading or changing the allotted branch to you based on the next Merit List to be prepared as per the vacant seats available. Also, it depends upon the preferences that you filled in the application form.

As far as your score is concerned, allotment of your choice of branch in the college will only be confirmed once the Merit List is out. However, your score is quite close to the 1 st cutoff and there are going to be 2 more lists/ rounds. So you shouldn’t lose hope.

If you have any query regarding admission, you can contact the college here: https://admissions.thapar.edu/contact-us.php

Kindly recommend me should I take ECE at Thapar or ECE/CSE at VIT Vellore. Please help me.

AJAY KUMAR POLAVENI 9th Aug, 2020

hello there!

if you have interest towards communication department then i suggest you to take ECE but at present computer science engineering holds the upper hand so i suggest you to take computer science engineering

Both the colleges Thapar University and VIT University are the best private colleges in India under top 10 private colleges in India.

Computer science engineering offered by both these colleges have different courses but the baseline of computer science engineering course is the same, it all depends upon the practical knowledge given to the students of computer science engineering. Both these colleges are known for their great infrastructure, faculties and facilities provided by them like Wi-Fi labs with better equipment and machines. So there is not much of a comparison between these colleges based on infrastructure, faculties and facilities.
Both the colleges claim to have 100% placements.

In VIT-

Companies that come for the placement of computer science engineering students are as follows:

Accenture Amazon Ashok Leyland Bank of America Blue Star Capital IQ Cisco Systems Cognizant Deloitte ebay Ericsson India Ford Motors GODREJ Google HONEYWELL HP Intel Microsoft Oracle PayPal PayU Shopclues.Com Snapdeal TCS Wipro

Average salary offered by the companies is about 5 lakh per annum.
Highest salary offered by the companies is about 30 lakh per annum.
In Thapar University-

Companies that come for the placement of computer science engineering students are as follows:

alstom Crompton Greaves Dabur DE Shaw Deloitte Futures First GATI Honda Two Wheelers IBM Informatica KPMG Make My Trip Maruti Suzuki Microsoft Naukri Com Oracle Practo RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) Saint Gobain Sandisk SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC SYNTEL VISA Zomato ZS Associates

Both these colleges have companies visiting from India and multinational companies.
Average salary offered by the companies is about 6 lakh per annum.
Highest salary offered is about 33 lakh per annum.
According to me you should choose Thapar University because of its better placements, infrastructure and facilities.

i hope this helps you.

goodluck!

Is COE in Thapar University worth doing?

Firdouse 2nd Aug, 2020

Hello

Perhaps COE is the best course offered by the University.
While everyone will inform you about the great placements, there are other things too:
1) Good faculty. I don't know who is the current HOD, but Dr.Singh during our batch was considered as an excellent coder himself.
2) Good societies: various computing societies and clubs are there which are quite active and considered good. You will get an opportunity to mingle with some great engineers.

Hope it helps

Thank you

Thapar University,Patiala (Computer Engineering), Manipal University Jaipur (CSE), BML MUNJAL University (CSE). Please help me to decide the choice between these three?. Thanks in advance.

Rama Devi 1st Aug, 2020

Hello,

Among these three mentioned college's, I suggest you to choose Thapar. Because college has  Excellent records for placement.Computer science placements are over 90 percent. In the season of placement all the big tech giants visit the campus. The highest offered salary package was 38 LPA and the lowest offered salary package was 3 to 4 LPA.The college was visited by various companies such as D-Shaw, Ibm, Rurick, Cisco, Texas Instrumentation and San-Disk.A placement cell is available, and it is extremely effective. College Infrastructure is very good when compared to othern mentioned college. It has a campus  which extends over 250 acres. Present pursuing students and alumni students told that  College has a very nice infrastructure. The conference halls are absolutely A.C. The hostel is good enough to support wi-fi services at acceptable rates. The food standard will be 7/10. The laboratories are nice with the requisite equipment. The library at Thapar is one of the best places you can visit and learn at any time. The college fees is  on higher side but if you really work hard and get job in campus placements alone then it is worthy. Because college provide various resources to get you the job. So it's you who have to work hard to make your spent money worth of it. Thapar college has received Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)  accreditation. Also, accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) A+ & National Board of Accreditation (NBA). There are many international and national colleges in Collaboration with Thapar.

It's your choice to choose the college wisely, however I provide you the comparison parameters of these three colleges, you can compare them and choose accordingly. You check all parameters like college ranking, placements , facilities, details about college and mostly importantly Student's reviews of your mentioned college's.

is thapar university expensive

Akshita Paul 1st Aug, 2020

Hello,

To be honest, Thapar University is a little expensive compared to some other universities. The academic fees is about 1.5 lakhs per semester, and hostel fee is about 45000 per semester. Mess fee costs around 16000 per semester, and on an average, each semester costs around 2 to 2.15 lakhs for each student. So,  the fee structure can be considered to be on the expensive side at Thapar University.

Hope this helps!!!
