You didn't mention the course. Mumbai university offer different courses which have several modes of admission. The admission in BA, BCom ,BSc programs are done through merit list which is prepared based on the marks acquired in class 12 or equivalent courses.
The university conducts entrance examination for admission in several other courses . Admissions in different colleges are done as per the rank scored in the examination. University officials understand that there can be various reasons for a student to drop year, including changing streams, pursuing particular interests and so on. You are not at a disadvantage unless you have an legitimate reason for it that you can explain.
