what do i do now ? i want to be interpreter or translator but ryt now im doing ba in psychology in another clg and .. now Im thinking should i start first searching for institutions of language for learning korean ? tell me please

Akshita Dhiman 10th Jul, 2021

Hi there,

Firstly, I would like to elaborate on the difference between a translator and an interpreter. Yes, they are often used interchangeably but there is a slight difference.

Translator: If you are willing to sit in a cubicle surrounded by dictionaries and preparing a document duplicating the original., is work done by a translator.

Interpreter: interpreter on the other hand is a person that acts as a mediator between two persons and translator the entire conversation.

As you're already enrolled in a course I would suggest you start with a certificate program initially. See there are three types of programs you can enroll into a degree, a diploma, and a certificate program.

As you are pursuing a degree it'll be difficult for you to get into another degree program. The best-case scenario is to go for a diploma or a certificate course. Jamia offers certificates as well as part-time diplomas. It'll be easier as the classes will only be conducted on weekends for the part-time diploma.

You could pursue a diploma or certification and Jamia or from IGNOU.

http://www.ignou.ac.in/ignou/aboutignou/school/sofl/programmes/detail/655/2

The minimum eligibility criteria are for a candidate to be 12th passed .

It is the easiest way to start as of how and will also land you an entry-level job.

i am 46 years old n have done french upto B2 level I dont have any kind of experience will I get a job in a MNC or as a interpreter or translator

Arshiya 29th Jul, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

First of all, to be a successful translator or interpreter, you need to do the course for translation and interpretation since it involves interpreting what a native french person is trying to say, it need high french proficiency.

So you can do the translation and interpretation course after B2 and then apply for jobs in MNCs as a translator and interpreter.

I don't think that your age will be a problem if you've genuine knowledge and strong grip at the language.

Shweta Goel 7th Jul, 2021

Hello Naresh,

Multi national companies gives jobs to highly professional people who have fluent communication skills, in your case you have to have good speaking skills in French and that comes along when you have learned enough about the language. They prefer to give job to candidates who have done atleast till C1 level but the rest depends upon your interview. You can give it a try.

Whereas, in interpretation and translation jobs, you have higher chances to get a job, if you crack the interview well.

I hope this information helps.

can I get a interpreter or translator job if I have completed french upto the B2 level

anirudha vats 17th Apr, 2021

Hi,

Well B2 level is higher intermediate and I think that can have you land a job of interpreter or might help you in getting a job of a translator. But then again other things matter as well like your actual fluency in the language and how much you really know the language. Those things also matter a lot.

I hope this helps.

All the best.

what is the pay for a Japanese interpreter n translator in india

Atif Ali 7th May, 2021

Hello,

First of All your salary range depends on various factors such as-

1. How much prior experience you have related to this field

2. The company in which you have applied or not (if it's a reputed company then chances are very high that you will get more salary)

Now, if you having 0-1 year if experience then you can expect a salary range of 2.5-3 lacs as your initial salary. But if you work for a reputed company then you will definitely get better pay scale, but you are going to need prior experience to get a job in a reputed companies.

You salary range can go upto 5-6 lacs per annum after gaining 3-4 years of experience in relevant field, but as I have mentioned, salary range also depends on the company.

You can get these kind of jobs, have a look-

1. Senior Associate- Japanese Language

2. Language Expert- Japanese

3. Accounts Specialist- Japanese

Good Luck.
