Hello
SH College Thevara,Ernakulam(Autonomous) is the best college in EKM and one of the best in the state. They have great faculty and the coaching is very good. Since they are toppest in the district , their cut off is pretty high. Only the top scorers get admission here.
St.Teresas College Ernakulam(Autonomous) is a women's only institution situated in the heart of the city. This institution is also well known for their arts departments. The science departments are also good.
Both SH and St.Teresas colleges have managed to secure their positions among the top 100 in MHRD ranking for the best colleges of the Nation.
Some other good colleges in EKM district are:
1.Maharajas College Ernakulam(Autonomous): One of the oldest colleges in the Kerala; infamous for their regular strikes but have got good faculty in most of their departments. The best part of this college is its campus. Studying here, one can choose to a good student or be a political activist or be an art lover. No restrictions and lots of freedom. One can choose what they want to be.
2. St. Albert's College Ernakulam(Autonomous): They have good faculties in chemistry and mathematics departments; physics department is also fine. Situated in heart of Cochin city, this college is easily accessible from all parts of EKM. The management inflicts too much strictness upon the students sometimes. But if you want to excel in your studies without much other activities then this place is a good option.
3. Cochin College Cochin
4. St. Xavier's College , Aluva
5. UC College, Aluva
Etc are some other options.
Now outside EKM City some of the best colleges(up to my knowledge) are:
