Hi,

According to the eligibility criteria for UGC-NET, the candidate must have qualified or should be in the final year of their masters degree. Also, they must have minimum 55% marks in their masters degree while there is a relaxation of 5% for candidates with reservation. Also, it is preferable for the candidate to appear for the exam in which post graduation was done.

Can I Eligible For UGC NET In Env. Sciences Even After My Masters In Microbiology..If Yes, Then Also Suggest Me If I Will Get JRF In Env. Sciences Then I Eligible For PhD In MIcrobiology In Any Institute ?

theeanonymous 10th Feb, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Yes you can apply for UGC NET Environmental Science.Environmental science is multidisciplinary in nature ,so candidates who have studied related subjects in their masters can apply. But as as you have post graduation in Microbiology then the best and right option for you is CSIR NET Life Sciences. Anyways to answer your query, coming from microbiology , it will be easy to cover the subject topics for NET. After clearing JRF you will be very much eligible for research fellowship and you can pursue  PhD in Microbiology as well in any UGC recognized institution in India.

Am I eligible to apply for a fellowship if I have cleared JRF in UGC NET environmental science and pursuing a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences?

theeanonymous 8th Feb, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Yes , you are very much eligible to apply for fellowship. Animal sciences is a field related to environmental science. The NET notification has stated that, if your subject is not mentioned in the list of NET subjects, you can take up related subjects and clear NET . Anyways it is better to discuss with your department in the college where you are pursuing PhD. They will be able to give the correct guidance.

All the best
