What does an effective month-by-month study plan look like if Im starting six months ahead of the csir ugc net? How much time should I allocate to revisions, mock tests, and research papers?

Pradeepa P 30th Jun, 2025

A six month preparation window is ideal for CSIR UGC NET, especially if you follow a structured plan. Below is a month wise breakdown of how you can prepare effectively, balancing core subjects, General Aptitude, revision, mock tests , and research paper reading .

In the first three months , focus on completing the full syllabus, spending most of your time on core subjects and 1 day a week on General Aptitude. Also, begin reading 1 to 2 research papers weekly.

In month 4 , start your first full revision, practice topic-wise questions, and begin attempting small mock tests.

In month 5 , do your second revision and shift to full-length mock tests (2 per week) while analyzing mistakes.

In month 6 , do a final quick revision, increase mock tests to 3 to 4 per week, and avoid starting new topics.

Overall, spend around 60 to 70% of your time on subject preparation , 15 to 20% on revision , and 10 to 15% on mock tests and paper solving , increasing test practice in the last two months.

I got 3608 rank in jee mains from ST category

Tanisha chaudhary 6th Jun, 2025

HEY THERE!!!

  • With a JEE Mains rank of 3608 in the ST category, your prospects look promising.
  • This rank positions you for admission to numerous NITs, IIITs, and other respected government-funded technical institutes through the reserved quota.
  • While the most sought-after branches at the top NITs might remain highly competitive, you are well-placed to secure core branches at several top and mid-tier NITs, as well as other centrally funded institutions.
  • It would be advisable to explore the previous years’ cutoffs to identify programs where your chances are strongest.

Here’s a simple strategy to prepare for UGC NET in Social Work:

  1. Know the syllabus : Cover both Paper 1 (teaching & research aptitude) and Paper 2 (Social Work topics like theories, methods, policies, etc.).

  2. Use standard books : Refer to authors like U. Ghai, Sanjay Bhattacharya, and IGNOU materials for Paper 2.

  3. Make short notes : Summarize each topic for quick revision.

  4. Practice MCQs : Solve previous years' papers and mock tests regularly.

  5. Revise often : Set a revision schedule weekly to retain concepts.

  6. Follow current affairs : Focus on social policies, government schemes, and recent developments in social work.

Stay consistent with 4–5 hours of study daily, and focus on understanding rather than memorizing.
