i have qualified my ugc net jrf under ews category.....can i apply for phd in general category ???

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 20th Dec, 2020
Hello,

But why do you want to apply for Ph.D in General category if you have passed NET with EWS category ? If you have valid documents then its better option to apply as an ews category candidate.
Although you can also apply as a general candidate as it's totally upto you.But they might ask for your ews certificate since you have passed JRF as an ews candidate.

I hope this helps.

first  of all I want to explain about the both of the ugc net and csir net exam and their purpose/

CSIR net: CSIR UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to select candidates for theposition of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for determining their eligibility to appoint  as lecturers in Indian universities and colleges.

CSIR-UGC NET Exam for Science stream is conducted by CSIR in the following areas: -

1. Chemical Sciences

2. Earth Sciences

3. Life Sciences

4. Mathematical Sciences

5. Physical Science

you may chose any of the subject which is nearest to your education qualification. since you are from zoology background life science is the fair choice.

UGC NET:  On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility Of candidates to become  Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor Both, in Indian Universities and Colleges.

however if you look for ugc net subjects there is no subjects which is vary much related with zoology back ground. however you may appear in both of the exams and either of the exam. however first analysis the syllabus, questions pattern and then take decision for exam preparation. follow the below link to know about ugc net subjects and syllabus:

how can i apply ews certificate after ugc net result any solution

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 30th Dec, 2020

Hi,

The eligibility you should meet to get ews certificates is as follows:

  • Candidate's annual family income must be less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum.
  • His family must not own more than 5 acres of agriculture land.
  • The residential flat area should be below 1000 sq ft.
  • The residential plot's area should be below 100 square yards if in a notified municipality sector.
  • The residential plot's area should be below 200 square yards if in a non-notified municipality sector.

You can get the EWS certificate from your local government authority (Tehsil). The certificate is called an 'Income and Assets Certificate', and this is the proof that is required to avail the EWS reservation. The designated authority will verify your documents and issue your EWS certificate.

however once you have applied for ugc exam and results has declared you can not change your category now, since score and rank is availed based on the persons category.

hope it would help.

I have applied for ugc net 2020 in ews category as at that time I didnt have the obc-ncl number and I have qualified now. so what will i have to do now?

Nive 3rd Dec, 2020

Hello, unfortunately after the correction window closes no change in category will be allowed. After the declaration of results the subsequent  changes in the category  (it usually happens for financially determined categories) wont be effective. You will considered in EWS category as such in this selection process.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Eligibility criteria for CAT is  passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university with 50% aggregate, there's relaxation of 5% in case of reserved categories, final year students are eligible to apply.

For UGC NET, you are required to pass postgraduation in any relative subject from the recognized University with 55% aggregate, there is relaxation of 5% in case of reserved category, here also final year students are eligible. To provide you an example if you choose to do master's degree in english, you can appear for UGC NET in English.
