Is University of Hyderabad a good choice of college to pursue integrated M.Tech. in CS?

Deepali Bansal 29th Jun, 2019
HELLO JHINUK BHATTACHARYA

YES UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD IS A GOOD CHOICE TO
PURSUE INTEGRATED M.TECH IN CS.

1.
Campus:- Its a well extented beautiful campus consisting
of shopping complexes, juice point, snacks point, tea point, Barber point etc.
There is North campus as well as south campus with lots of Forest Cover, canopy
of trees and mind blowing gardens. You can enjoy an evening walk from one
campus to other while sipping coffee. It's a best place if u are a nature
lover.

2.
Academics:- Coming to academics let me talk about only the
School Of Economics. Our Dean sir, Lecturers and professors are student
friendly. They take great pride and care in helping a student in every nook and
corner relating studies. I really feel previleged to be a part of this School.

3.
Cultural Programs:- All types of cultural Programs starting from
Republic Day celebration to Christmas Celebration are held with pomp and show
within the Campus. U can say it's a completely secular campus. All students are
invited to the programs. Fresher's as well as farewell parties are held too.
It's a lot of fun especially during the annual fest Sukoon held every year
during April.

4.
Library:- The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library is a very
pleasant and osum place to study where u can completely focus on studies. There
are lots of study materials and books as well as reading room which remains
active through out the year with UPSC aspirants who sit there whole night.

5.
Hostel:- Almost all hostels are very nice, clean &
well maintained (except some of the boys hostel). However there is little water
shortage problem during the 1st week of April every year. The fee for hostel
per semester is very nominal just RS 1200/-

6.
Mess:- The mess facility is available in every hostel
and they provide u with breakfast, lunch, dinner but what I personally feel is
the food is not at all hygienic and if u are a north Indian or from eastern parts
like I'm from Odisha, u won't like the food of mess. Still no issues becaz
there are a lot of mini restaurants immediately to the outside of south campus
gate with nominal price & u can have anything like veg or non veg u want.
Moreover there are Zomato, swiggy and food panda too.

7.
Communication:- Most of the classes are held in north campus. So
University has made arrangement of bus service for south campus students becaz
the distance is around 3–4kms. And the frequency of bus services are high.

8.
Students:- Most of the students are research oriented while
many are up for corporate sectors. Ya there are many upsc aspirants too. U will
find mostly studious guys becaz only the students who clear the entrance get
admission to this prestigious institution.

9.
Political Angle:- The campus is politically active especially
during student elections. They hold campaigns, meetings, speeches, etc to
attract voters. Every schools and departments have their own board members and
councillors who look after the problems in the department and address them to
their respective Deans.

10.  Sports & Gym:-
There are basket ball court, cricket ground, tournaments are held, table tennis
matches and a lot more. Students keep themselves fit through sports and gym.
The gym of the university is another awesome place and it's free of cost. You
will find all types of equipments here and both boys and girls are allowed. All
work no play makes jack a dull boy and so students along with academics keep
themselves fit too.

11.
Placements are always individual affairs, if you do have caliber
and prove yourself  at the department, there are people in department who
can help you in reaching your dream company. Besides every year, decent number
of product companies visit campus. I would suggest do not worry about
placements, concentrate on the courses and grab the internships at IITS and
product companies. Your hard work will take care of the placements.

12.  Exposure might be little less
compared to NITS, as the almuni is not very strong. Every Friday they had research seminars from industry experts and other interesting engagements. do participate in them.

Which college is better wrt CSE: UoH or Triple-I-T Bhubaneswar?

Yash Vardhan Singh 29th Jun, 2019

Hello Jhinuk,

IIIT Bhubaneshwar is among the top engineering colleges of India which takes admission through JEE-Mains marks.

In my opinion, IIIT Bhubaneshwar is better than University of Hyderabad. As all the classes and labs are well equipped with modern equipments in IIIT with well experienced faculty and this institute also offers a great exposure to its students at international level.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!!

rajaman9300 Student Expert 28th Jun, 2019

Hello Ankit

It's all depends on the how tough or easy paper is. But still I think 380+ marks will enough to get admission in UOH MCA programme.

I think UOH has started taking admission on the basis of NIMCET from last year only. (Please correct me if i am wrong).

All the best !!!
