VIT Engineering Entrance Exam

According to your son's VITEEE 2021 Rank it is difficult to get Computer Science Engineering in any VIT Campus like VIT Bellore, VIT Chennai, VIT Andhra Pradesh and VIT Bhopal based on previous year's cut-offs. The cutoffs varies from year to year and branch to branch and campus to campus.
The cut-offs depends on many factors like number of students appeared in the exam, difficulty level of the exam, number of seats available, category, branches etc. But you can try for Computer Science Engineering seat in other categories like 4 or 5 but you need to pay additional fees.

As you have mentioned you have got 72k rank in viteee 2021 and as you know the category will be 4 and the tuition fees will be high and that is 4.48L, so see in 72k nobody gets cse branch in vit vellore main campus and I don't think you have very good chances in vit chennai too for cse.
Within 50k the cse branch gets filled uptill category 5 in vit vellore,so if you want badly then you have to go through management quota.
But in vit chennai there is good chances for you to get electronics and maybe ece also.

As you have mentioned that you have got 12.3 k in the viteee exam ,so you would definitely secure computer science branch/ specialisation in category 2. Securing in category 1 with this rank is difficult as the seats gets filled very quickly in category 1.
Coming to the campus selection, vit vellore would be the number choice with this rank. Other campuses like vit chennai or vit bhopal or vit Andhra Pradesh are not as famous as vit vellore for its cse placements.

Heartly congratulations on your success in VITEEE. Analysing the previous trends and cutoffs, it might not be possible for you to get cse core or with specialization in category 1 at Vellore campus with the mentioned rank. All cse seats at Vellore campus are booked under a ranking of 6-7k. You can either apply for cse at VIT,Chennai under first category o r get a category 2 seat in in case you choose to study at Vellore campus only. You can choose your preference order once you pay the fee for counselling.

Going through the recent few years cutoffs trend of VIT Vellore, unfortunately, you could not make it to VIT Vellore CSE as the Computer science branch get closed around 7000 VITEEE ranks, but there is chance that you can get ECE branch there.

I believe with a Rank of 19k in VITEEE, you have fair chances of securing EEE in VIT Vellore by Category 1 or 2. You even have low chances of securing ECE Vellore by Category 2 of Counselling. At this rank however, you might secure CSE or CSE(Spez) at VIT Chennai by Category 2, which too is a good option.
Other than these you definitely have options for Non Circuital branches in Vellore like Mechanical, Chemical or Civil.
