Hi Teja,
You have secured a very good percentile in CAT exam. But, also You have a average academic record in 10th ,12th and graduation. After the declaration of the CAT result the merit list will be made to call the candidate for the interview round and WAT Test. The merit list comprises of your CAT percentile, your graduation marks, your work experience, your 10th and 12th marks. As you have secured 99.5 percentile you will get call for MBA course from
Once you get call from IIM or other institutes , you have to go through the WAT exam and interview process. On clearing both an another merit list will be prepared, which will select you to get enter IIM or other institutes.
Hi...
Congrats for the very good percentile in CAT.
As you are an Engineer you will not get calls from the top most IIMs which are IIM Ahmadabad,Bangalore and Culcutta.
The IIMA requires percentile above 99.7, for IIMC it is 99.68, and for IIMB it is 99.55.The expected cut offs for the three colleges is always above 99 percentile.
Other than these three IIMs there are high chances of getting calls from the other IIMs as you even have the work experience too.
The expected cut off for the IIMs for this year are:
IIM Ahmedabad - 99+
IIM bangaloe- 99+
IIM Calcutta-99+
IIM Lucknow-98+
IIM Indore-97+
IIM Kozhikode-97+
IIM Amritsar- 96+
IIM Nagpur- 96+
IIM Sambalpur - 95+
IIM Trichy- 94+
IIM Raipur- 95+
IIM Kashipur-95+
IIM Vizag- 92+
IIM Udaipur- 92+
IIM Bodhgaya-92+
IIM Shilong- 90+
IIM Srimaur-90+
There is nothing like all candidates getting 99+ percentile get calls from A,B,C IIMs. Your grades even in 10th and 12th matters which are quite good. The cut offs may slightly varies depending on the percentile scored by the students and their working experience, UG background and many other factors.
Best luck
Hello Garima
There are many good colleges, where you can get admission at 91+ percentile in CAT,you have a great work experience but your academics score is also matter, that is your 10+2+3 marks. If you have average or more than average academic marks,Here is the list of colleges where you can get admission-
Hope this helps
Good Luck!
Hello Jyoti,
Hope you are doing good.
For getting admission in top B-School, you need to score more than 90 percentile atleast. As there is an increasing cut throat competition in the management sector, you need to make sure you get in top ten per cent for that you will need atleast 90 percentile.
Further, many colleges give some relaxation to students in CAT score, who have a relevant work experience. So, you need to bear that even and even for that, you need to score more and focus on other co-curricular activities and relevant skills in the area of management.
Start early and I'm sure with a consistent practice, one can score above 90 percentile in CAT.
Hope this information is helpful to you !
All the best Jyoti !
Thank-you !
Hello Abhijeet
As you have mentioned your academic scores,it is average. But with 97.2 percentile in CAT,you have good chance to get admission in some decent MBA colleges, also with this marks, you can easily get baby or new IIMs,and there are many other good colleges where academics marks doesn't matter a lot. So,yes you can get many decent colleges after scoring 97.2 percentile in CAT
Hope This Helps
Best Of Luck!

Hello Aspirant,
I will tell you about the situation of these colleges in previous year -:
IMT NAGPUR AND HYDERABAD - They had call every student for interview but they they have taken only those students which are having more than 90 percentile in CMAT.
XIME BANGALORE - Cutoff for every exam is 75 percentile.
SIES MUMBAI - They also call every student for their GD-PI process, Selection depends on both scores in exam and GD-PI.
BIMTECH NOIDA - More than 70 percentile is enough for getting a call but they will take admission only for retail and banking through CMAT exam.
I hope the above information is beneficial to you.
All the best.
