Since you can't choose "VJA" and reservation benefits are only for those listed on the central list, applying under the general category is the correct procedure.

To qualify for the scholarship after the exam, candidates must score at least 40% aggregate marks in both the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholarship Aptitude Test (SAT).
