You have a reasonable chance of getting shortlisted, especially under the OBC-NCL category . The program requires a valid JEE Main score , minimum Class 10 and 12 marks (55% for OBC-NCL), and then shortlists candidates for a Personal Interview (PI) . The final selection is based on both your JEE Main performance and PI .

An 89.3 percentile is competitive for OBC-NCL , but selection depends on the applicant pool and PI performance. There have also been special admission drives for reserved categories in 2026.

IIM Mumbai – B.S.

Your chances are lower compared to IIM Sambalpur. IIM Mumbai's undergraduate programs are highly competitive, and an 89.3 percentile may not be enough unless the cutoff falls significantly or you perform exceptionally in subsequent selection stages.

Should you choose a Tier-2 Core branch or Tier-3 CSE?

It depends on your career goal:
