aftrer doing LLB and LLM does LLM gives you an edge over others in jobs?
Hello Aspirant
LLB is the degree for legal studies at the undergradute level whereas LLM is the degree at the postgraduate level.
LLB in itself is a very powerful degree and many students start to work under different lawyers or corporations after completing their LLB.
Although there is no doubt that a higher qualification raises the profile of an individual.
Especially in the cases of working under corporations or big lawyers, a higher degree does give you can edge over the amount of money you are paid and the position that you are offered.
Just one thing to keep in mind is that LLM is not necessary and one can pursue working in the legal sector as LLB also.
Nonetheless, yes LLM gives you an edge over others in the job market. LLM Requires a lot of studies and two more years of study are added to your profile. So take the decision according to your situation and the time you are willing to put in.
All the best
