Even though both psychology and psychiatry are courses that deal with the behavior of the human mind, as professions, these two are very different.
One of the easiest ways to distinguish between the two is to remember that psychiatrists are trained medical doctors and are allowed to prescribe medicines. Psychologists, on the other hand, use psychotherapy and behavioral intervention to alleviate the mental and emotional turmoil that a patient is going through.
To become a psychiatrist you need to give NEET. To pursue psychiatry, you need to pursue MBBS, and then specialize inpsychiatry.
But for Psychologist You can pursue undergraduate courses like B.A (H) inPsychology. You need to have a HSC (or equivalent) to pursue a Bachelor's degree in psychology.
Specialization at thepostgraduatelevel, where one can get an M.A. or M.Sc. in either Psychology, Social Work, or CounselingFurther specialization at thedoctorallevel is available as well via PhD or M.Phil
Psychology is a highly rewarding and lucrative field of study.
If a psychologist has his/her own practice, they generally charge by the hour, which can range fromINR 300 an hour to INR 1000 an hour. Asan entry-level psychologist, PayScale reports suggest, that you can earn anywhere between INR 1.7 LPA to INR 6.2 LPAdepending on your skill, where you have
graduated from, and where you are working.
