Any advantage of taking AB Group in 12 th standard over either A or B group alone? Any course where AB Group student will get advantage
Hello Aspirant
As specified by you, Group A includes PCM, which is also known as non-medical.
Group B includes PCB, which is also known as Medical.
These two are the most preferred streams in higher education.
Group A students have mathematics whereas Group B students have Biology. These two subjects are the major determinants of further career prospects.
Group A students are most likely to pursue engineering (civil, mechanical, computer science, etc). These students also opt for B.sc degrees in the subjects of their choice. Other than these choices, the students opt for defense, law and IT.
Group B students are most likely to pursue medicine. There is a lot of scope within medicine itself, from MBBS TO BAMS, BDS, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Sciences.
The students who opt for both Mathematics and Biology have one major advantage and that is – their horizon is widened for degrees. They can opt for engineering as well as medicine.
Along with this advantage, there is one disadvantage and that is – it is very difficult to manage both the subjects. Mathematics and Biology are difficult subjects and it is difficult to score well in both subjects. As the percentile scored in 12th grade is considered in admissions for various colleges, it is recommended to choose one subject so as to maintain a good overall score. Students under group AB have a lot of pressure over them and this mostly restricts their performance in other subjects. A student most likely needs to attend tuitions for these subjects and a combination of both the subjects tend to make the schedule of the student very tiring and hectic.
The fields of mathematics and biology are diverse and very different, and one must choose sooner the field they are more inclined towards.
Certain degrees such as Biomedical prefer a combination of PCMB and this is another advantage.
Thus, it is recommended to choose either group A or Group B
I hope that I have answered your question.
Best of luck!
