Are NIT's are better than IIT's ? Can i enter into IIT by getting better rank in jee mains ?

Yes, but there is an important distinction:

• You cannot get admission to an IIT using only your JEE Main rank.
• A good JEE Main rank can make you eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. For 2026, the top 2,50,000candidates in JEE Main B.E./B.Tech. are shortlisted for JEE Advanced, subject to the other eligibility conditions.
• You then need to qualify JEE Advanced and obtain a sufficiently good Advanced rank to get an IIT seat.

As for NIT vs IIT: IITs are generally considered stronger overall for reputation, research, faculty and highly competitive placements, but top NITs can be better than some IITs for particular branches or career goals. For example, NIT Trichy CSE can be a better choice for some students than a lower-ranked IIT branch.
