are north NITs preferable by means of placement.my branch is cse.rank is 8436(open category).can I also get a seat in south NITs?

You can get south NIT's but you won't get branches like CSE,IT ,ECE ... You can get lower branches of those NIT's . I can say you can go for CSE branch from any of the alloted colleges as the placement for CSE in any college is quite good .
