bharathi vidyapeeth college of engineering
Hello Aditya Roshan Jha,
My brother was a part of the Computer Engineering batch that passed out in 2015. I am taking the liberty to assume that you don’t belong to Pune and hence, plan on moving out of the city that you are currently based in (just like I did), to get admitted into this college.
As a heads up, BVUCOE is a part of the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University and has no affiliation to either Pune University or BVCOE, New Delhi which is affiliated to IP University.
Here are my few cents on some of the aspects:
Academics:
Similar to the curriculum of the majority of the Tier-2 engineering colleges in the country, the content that is ‘taught’ here is obsolete. Emphasis is on rote learning and there is little or no room for innovation. If you are an individual who likes to ‘create’, you’d have to go out on a limb to do so.
Faculty:
Apart from a few seasoned professors in the Core Departments (Mechanical, Production, Electrical & Chemical), majority of the faculty is young and inexperienced who have recently graduated themselves.
Goes without saying, the same is an obvious hindrance when it comes to the scope/potential of your learning as a student.
Infrastructure:
The college has undergone a overhaul in terms of the infrastructure available at the premises in recent years but there still is a long way to go. Absence of basic amenities like a decent auditorium & modern practical research labs is a major put off.
The university though, boasts of a lush green campus of about 100 acres.
Fees:
The annual fees is INR 1 lac (General seat, charges for the Management Quota seat are more) which remains the same through the tenure of 4 years. Additionally, a student is expected to pay examination fees and some other charges amounting to around INR 20,000 per year.
Depending upon your lifestyle, the course will cost you around INR 8 lacs including everything for a period of 4 years.
Placements:
Coming to placements, one of the more important aspects of the degree, you are likely to get a job if you have completed your engineering in Computers or I.T, the placements for the rest of the streams are comparatively low. Don’t arrive with any exceptional expectations.
Average packages stand at 3–3.5 lacs. Though, Pune being an IT hub, there always is a chance to appear for off-campus opportunities.
Grading system:
I’ll be blunt, scoring great marks here is hard, just like any other college in Pune. If my knowledge serves me right, the college has recently switched to CGPA system from the percentage system which will hopefully make things better.
Don’t expect marks to be doled out, you will have to go out there and fight it out for yourself.
Exposure/Crowd:
Majority of the people who come from the outside are from the north. If you belong to the same region, you won’t feel out of place.
One of the biggest USPs of the college is the city that it is based in. If you do happen to be here, you are likely to get a host of opportunities to connect to more like-minded people(via social clubs, fests, other events etc). Pune being a cosmopolitan city, food wouldn’t be an issue as well.
All in all, it is a reasonable college to graduate from. If you think that you have a better opportunity in the place that you are currently based out of/elsewhere, take it. All the best!
