Can anyone tell me how the xgmt percentile is calculated
Hi Raj !
- For any standardized entrance exams such as CAT , MAT , XGMT etc , the calculation of
percentile is the same .
Percentage Calculation :
- Percentage is your marks divided by the total marks multiplied by 100 .
i.e. ,
Percentage = (Marks you have scored ) / (Total Marks Possible ) x 100 .
- For example , if you have scored 85 out of a possible 100 , your percentage would be 85 % .
- This represents a reflection of how well you have done in the exam individually.
- It does not anything to do with how others have performed in the same exam .
Percentile Calculation:
- For calculating percentile , it is important to know the scores of other people
in order to calculate your own percentile . Percentiles give you an idea of how well/poorly
you have performed in the exam . They show you how your performance is relative to that of
others'.
- Percentile = (Number of people who have scored lesser than you ) / (Total number of people appearing for the exam) x 100 .
- For instance , if in an exam , you have scored the second highest in the class out of 100 people .
- So this means that your score is better than that of 98 other people and your percentile would be
98%ile.
- If your rank is 25th in the class of 100 , it means that you have scored more than the
scores of 75 people and your percentile would be 75%ile.
Hope this helps , all the best !
