At present. NISER conducts the following programes -
1. MSc 5 year integrated course
2. PhD course
3. Integrated PhD For students having a Bsc Degree
The 5 year integrated MSc course is for the core branches of Science i.e Biological science , Chemical Science , Mathematical Science and Physical Science . Candidate needs to choose any one of the four branches .
The candidates interested in the course are supposed to appear in the entrance exam
NEST
which is conducted once every year .
Eligibility
-
- The candidate must qualify class 12th examination with science stream ad must score 60% aggregate in the qualifying exam .
- The candidate must not exceed the age of 20 years .
Application process
-
The candidate needs to register online through official website . The application startd from 7th January and will be availabele till 11th March . The application fees would be as follows -
General , OBC Male candidate - Rs. 1200
General , OBC , ST , SC Female candidate - Rs. 600
ST , SC Male candidate - Rs. 600
Pwd Candidates - Rs. 600
Exam
-
The exam will be conducted on 1st june 2019 in online mode . The exam is of 3 hour duration .
The paper would comprise of 5 sections . 1 general section which would be compulsory for all the andidates and 4 subject specific sections out of which a candidate needs to attempt any 3 section .
The candidate can attempt all the four and best of 3 would be marked along with general section for the final result .
General section comprise of 10 MCQ questions while the 4 subject specific sections comprise 15 questions each .
Syllabus

The syllabus would comprise all the topics covered in class 11th and 12th for each subject .
Result and councelling
-
The result is tentatively supposed to e released on 17th June 2019. The result would comprise of section wise scores and the finl score which would be calculated by taking into account the scores of general section and best of the three subject wise sections. The candidates who would score the minimum admissible marks and above will only be included in the merit list.
The candidates who will make it to the merit would be called for councelling which will be conducted in offline mode.
Following documents would be required at the time of councelling.
- NEST 2019 Admit Card
- Class 12 Certificate and Marksheet
- Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet
- SC/ST/OBC/PwD Certificate (If applicable)
- Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Certificate issued on or after June 1, 2018 (for OBC candidates)
- Domicile Certificate (for Jammu & Kashmir Candidates)
