Yes, Kannada can be offered as a language for 1st standard in Karnataka. When kids learn in their mother tongue or regional language early, they have a better understanding of the language, a better emotional response, and a better cognitive development. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes teaching in the mother tongue or regional medium of instruction at least until Grade 5. It re-emphasizes about children learning in their official language in Karnataka, in order to maintain the cultural relevance of the language and bias children towards using a large language set from an early age.
