describe some of gandhiji's habits and attitudes which were different from what he encountered in Britain.
Hello,
Gandhi took his studies seriously and tried to improve his English and Latin by studying in University of London. But, during the three years he spent in England, his main concentration was with personal and moral issues rather than with academic purposes. The change from the half-rural atmosphere of Rajkot to the metropolitan life of London was not easy for him. As he found it painfull to adjust himself to Western food, dress, and manners, he felt awkward. His vegetarianism became a regular source of embarrassment to him; his friends warned him that it would ruin his studies as well as his health. The stay in Britain contributed substantially in shaping Gandhi’s personality and, eventually, his politics.
Hope this helps,
All the Best!!
