This decision entirely lies upon you. If you work hard during this drop year, solve previous years papers, and make sure you clear JEE the next year, there is no harm in taking a gap year.
However, on the downside, there may be few companies that do not let you sit for placements since you'll have a gap between your first year and 12th. There would definitely be other companies that will offer you jobs.
There is also a chance of you getting distracted or losing your focus in this gap year. However, the decision is in your hands and if you feel you can concentrate on your goal for an year and work towards it, go ahead.
All the best!

Hi Mohan,
Dropping one year for jee mains is a good idea. But for advanced, if you cleared mains and waiting 1 year for jee advanced is not a good idea. Because for writing advanced you must clear mains before it.
All the best!
Hello Mohan,
It all depends on you. You know yourself in the best way. You know your strength yiur weakness your capability and your preparation. If you can study thoroughly for a whole year then its a good option , also you'll get a lot of pressure and if you can handle it , you can drop a year but still its not sure that you'll clear jee advance. Also if you are getting a good college without dropping you can go for it with your desired branch.
So above are the parameters which you can think before dropping for jee advance.
