Hello!
Better in terms of what? And branch of what?
To give fair judgment, you have to first take note that each of these disciplines are kids from their own origin fields (electronics engineering from electrical engineering, and information technology from computer science), just so you can have some additional insight with making a decent comparison of the two.
Similarities
Believe it or not, there tends to be some connection and overlap between the two disciplines in terms of a certain practice known as network engineering. Both the electronics engineer and the information technologist, in their own ways, have a general responsibility of maintaining and administrating their respective network infrastructures, whether the infrastructure is mostly based in telecommunications or in computer networks. They tend to be similar in a way that both are based in the concept of data transmissions and communications, adapting the concept further to their respective settings.
With IT, this tends to be contained within the local area network part of infrastructures, with more emphasis in that type of topology and structure design. IT is very much based within organizations as their own tech departments that provide such services to all parts of an organization. And one of the most common way IT does this is to simply wire every workstation up together to form a network of interconnected and ‘communicating’ computing technologies.
ECE, on the other hand, takes jabs mostly at the macro level, dealing with the wide area network level concerns such as in telecommunications transmission towers and similar structures. While equipment and hardware are considerably larger in both quantity and quality, ECE most often deals with the same challenges of ‘wiring’ devices up through various wide-scale means.
Differences
As previously mentioned, both disciplines tend to differ once they venture out of the data communications concept and into their respective contexts and settings as engineers and technologists. The first most obvious difference the varieties of hardware that both disciplines tend to utilize and implement in their respective work. IT obviously deals with hardware related to computer usage, while ECE deals with technology that connects multiple platforms together in order to transmit data effectively.
Another possible difference is the level of certification each undergoes in order for one to become a legitimate professional in either one. ECE has a greater tendency to have fixed states of certification mechanisms as compared to IT, meaning that ECE has less chances of having their certification criteria be changed over time not like in IT where devices tend to get produced at a more frequent pace.
With all this choosing a right university is also a task.

I hope this helps.
All the Best!
You cant say which branch is better or which is best or worst. It totally depends on your interest and further which field you want to choose as your career. Every branch has its own benefits like if you want to go for IT then there is less chance or any government job. IT means fully private sector and if you go for ECE then government jobs are open for you.
ECE All about!
You will have to choose wisely.
Both domains are in trend.
Good Luck.
