Hello Ram,
Now onwards you’ll get two chances to qualify for the JEE Advanced - thanks to the NTA!
Coming to the eligibility criteria. There are 5 points.
- Performance in JEE Main - Be among the top candidates of your category (Gen/OBC/SC/ST/PWD etc.) in JEE Main, i.e. clear the JEE Main cut-off.
- Age limit - you should have been born on or after October 1, 1994. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PWD candidates, i.e., born on or after October 1, 1989.
- Number of attempts - You can JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
- Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination: You should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2018 or 2019.
- Earlier admission at IITs - You should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not you continued in the program accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting center in the past. Candidates whose admission at IITs was canceled after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2019.
I know there is a bunch of speculation about this. But remember - the NTA will only conduct JEE Main. The IITs will conduct the JEE Advanced - so I don’t think the rules will change much.
All The Best!
1. JEE Mains Performance - Must qualify JEE Mains and be among the top 2,24,000 candidates (including all categories)
2. Age Limit - 25 years (but candidates older than 25 can also apply but admission of such candidates wil be provisional till final decision by Supreme Court)
3. Number of attempts - Max of two attempts in consecutive years to appear for JEE Advanced
4. Class XII or Equivalent Examination - Minimum aggregate should be 75 % (UR) or 65 % (SC/ST/PwD)
