Eligibility for Selection in JEE Advance?

JEE Mains should be Cleared.
Percentage in Boards must be Greater than 75%.
AIR must be A good One.

You should be within top 20 percentile or should have scored aggregate of 75% in 12th board.

Also you should qualify jee mains by scoring above cut off marks.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has notified following two changes in the JEE pattern from 2017:

1.     There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination,

2.     For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

The States of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha & some other institutions have joined JEE (Main) system, however, their admission criteria will be notified by the concerned authorities. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State level examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main)–2018  application form online. The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.

For being eligible to give JEE advance following are the factors affecting:

• Performance in JEE Main 2018

The candidates will have to qualify JEE Main 2018 examination and be among the top 2,24,000 (including all categories) candidates. The percentages of various categories are: OBC-NCL (27%), SC (15%), ST (7.5%) and Open Category (50.5%). Within each of these categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.

• Age Limit

There is an age limit for JEE Advanced 2018 candidates. To be eligible, the candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1993. SC/ ST and PwD category candidates will get a relaxation of 5 years i.e., they should have been born on or after October 1, 1988.

• Number of Attempts

The entrance examination of JEE Advanced can be attempted maximum two times in consecutive years. Those candidates who attempted JEE Advanced examination for the first time in 2017 will also be eligible for the present session.

• Appearance in 10+2 (or equivalent) Examination

The candidates should have appeared for the 10+2 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2017 or 2018. However, those candidates whose 10+2 (or equivalent) examination results for the academic session of 2015  16 were declared after June 2016 will also be eligible for JEE Advanced 2018.

• Earlier Admission at IITs

The candidates should not have been admitted in any IIT irrespective of whether he/she continued in the programme or not. IIT seat should also not have been accepted by the candidate in the past by reporting at the reporting centre. Those candidates whose admissions at IITs were cancelled will also not be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2018.



Those candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any IIT for the first time in 2017 will be allowed to appear for the JEE Advanced 2018 exam. The admission authorities will also term those candidates who paid the seat acceptance fee but did not accept the seats (by not reporting at the reporting centres during JoSAA 2017) as eligible.
