About FTII:
- Film and Television Institute of India is an autonomous university under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Government of India, aided by the Central Government of India. It is very precisely situated in the Prabhat Film Company in Pune.
- It is one of the most prestigious film instituutions of India with an alumni inclusive of directors, technicians and actors in both the film and the television industry. Some of the notable alumni of this institution are Subhash Ghai, Nasiruddin Shah, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Raj Kumar Hirani, Mithun Chakraborty, Jaya Bhaduri and Subhash Ghai.
Eligibility Criteria:
For courses in Film:
- For specializations like direction and screenplay writing, acting, aditing, cinematography : Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from recognised university.
- For specializations like sound design and sound recording : Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree from any of the recognised university, they should have had physics as a subject in their 12th grade.

:The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in painting, architecture, applied arts, interior design, sculpture or any other fine arts related field from a reconised university.
For courses in Television:
- For specializations like electronic cinematography, direction and video editing : The condidate must have a Bachelor's degree from any of the recognised university in any discipline.
- For specializations like television engineering and sound recording : The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree from any of the recognised university, he should have had Physics as a compulary subject in 12th grade.
Important dates for the FTII JET examination 2020:
- Application forms are released by the fourth week of December 2019.
- Application portal closes tentativel by the last week of January or the first week of February 2020.
- Admit cards are made available by the third week of Februrary 2020.
- The examination is conducted in the fourth week of February 2020.
- The results of the examinations are released by the third week of April 2020.
- The interview and admissions happen in the month of April 2020.
Application:
- The form should be filled and submitted online. You need to fill educational and personal detail in the form, then upload scanned copies of documents requied. Select cities where you can give the examination.
- The application fee for film and television wing INR 4,000 each.
About the Examination:
- The examination will be conducted offline and will be for 3 hours.
- There will 30 MCQ type question and 70 descriptive type question. The question will be of 100 marks and each correct answer will carry 1 mark.
Film Wing Examination:
- The first section is a general aptitude section. It will check your general awareness in culture, Indian history, national and international news etc. for 15 marks, it will check you knowledge about cinema for another 15 marks.
- The second section is the specific area aptitude test. It will have 20 marks for long descriptive questions, 30 for descriptive question and 20 for short descriptive questions.
Television Wing Examination:
- The first section will test your general aptitude. The first 15 marks will test your knowledge about folk art, culture art etc., the other 15 marks will test your knowledge about TV and the digital and electronic media.
- The second section has long descriptive questions for 20 marks.
- The third section is the specific area aptitude tests. This section is for 50 marks.

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Punewas established in 1960. This is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. It is a member of CILECT (International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television). FTII has won 17 national awards and 1 international award for their films.
This institution offers Bachelors and Masters degrees, as well as Diploma and Certificate courses in subjects like Direction & Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Radio and Sound Design, Editing, Acting, Direction and Production Design, Feature Film Screenplay Writing, TV Direction, Electronic Cinematography, Video Editing and Sound Recording and TV Engineering.
