Gandhi Academy of Technology & Engineering was established in 2009 in Berhampur, the Silk City of Odisha. "Tarini Educational Trust" is in charge of running the Institute. The government of Odisha has accepted GATE as an institute, and it is associated with the Biju Patnaik University of Technology in that state. GATE is also accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

The institution has various departments for which the students can apply. These are :
