If your JEE Main rank is low and you're looking for government B.Tech colleges, you still have some chances depending on your category, home state, and the branch you're aiming for.
You can target newer or lower-demand NITs and IIITs, where cutoffs are higher. Branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Metallurgy tend to have higher closing ranks than CSE or ECE. If you’re from a reserved category like SC, ST, or PWD, your chances improve significantly, even in decent government institutes.
State government colleges under state counselling often have more relaxed cutoffs, especially for home state candidates.
